Emmy Acevedo, LCSW
I was born in the Dominican Republic but have spent most of my life in New Jersey. As a mom of two and a pastor's wife, I understand the pressures and seemingly endless expectations that life can bring.
My passion for helping others emerged when I began volunteering as a mentor for disadvantaged children and youth. After my first year of college, I shifted my major from Biotechnology to Humanities & Social Sciences, uncertain of the future but guided by my newfound passion.
Over the past decade, I’ve worked in various roles—ranging from non-profit organizations and in-home community crisis therapy to school social work and private practice. These diverse experiences have given me a broad perspective on client care and helped me specialize in supporting children as young as 11, young adults, and women facing emotional and mental health challenges. I utilize a range of evidence-based practices to address issues like anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.
